The Greene County Medical Center board of trustees and their affiliation partner, UnityPoint Health –Des Moines, has announced the hiring of Chad Butterfield as the new chief executive officer(CEO).
Butterfield will transition from Greene County Medical Center’s chief financial officer to his new role as CEO effective Oct. 18, 2021.
“On behalf of the Greene County Medical Center board of trustees, I am pleased to announce Chad as the next CEO for our organization,” said Jim Schleisman, board chair. “Chad is an outstanding leader who empowers others within our organization and has demonstrated his ability to implement new strategies to ensure our community has the care it needs right here at Greene County.”
Butterfield joined Greene County Medical Center in July of 2020 as the CFO. He has been a trusted leader throughout the pandemic and worked diligently to ensure the Medical Center had the resources it needed to care for patients through these challenging times.
With more than 29 years of healthcare finance and leadership experience, Butterfield works to create a strong strategic presence to encourage growth for the medical center. In addition, he has developed and empowered leaders through the medical center, overseeing financial strategies to move the organization forward through this pandemic. His commitment to patient-centered health care, along with strong collaboration skills will be valuable assets for Greene County Medical Center, Schleisman explained.

Butterfield received a master of business administration degree at the University of Saint Mary in Olathe, KS, and his bachelor’s degree in accounting at University of Northern Iowa.
